Power Supplies & Adapters

Curtiss-Wright manufactures rugged DC/DC converter boards for stackable PC/104 and other small form factor embedded systems applications. Capable of supporting -40/+85°C extended temperature operation and high shock/vibration environments, these power supplies are routinely installed in vehicle and aircraft systems. Select models also support 1500V DC electrical isolation, remote power on/off shutdown capabilities and voltage input surge and spike protections per MIL-STD-1275 / MIL-STD-704. Some models also feature built-in EMI/EMC filtering for MIL-STD-461F that typically eliminates the need for additional in-line power conditioning/EMI filtering devices in military embedded systems.

Air Data Computers

Modern Air Data Computers can be used to solve many problems associated with the Pitot Static systems found in aging aircraft and lend themselves well to new digitally based aircraft and upgrade programs, such as the move to glass cockpit displays.  Air Data Computers can not only eliminate the requirement for mechanical damping systems which reduce the effects of downwash caused by rotorcraft using digital filtering, they can also hold many configurations of Source Error Correction data and can be tailored to use inputs from specific aircraft hardware, all configurable using software.  This enables the procurement of an Air Data Computer with one part number that is compatible with a fleet of different aircraft.  Modern Air Data Computers can be easily optimised for Rotary and Fixed Wing applications.

Devices for Defense Industry Curtiss-Wright
Crash Protected Recorders

Curtiss-Wright has been designing and manufacturing crash protected recorders (CPR) for over 60 years. We were the first to combine cockpit voice recorders (CVR) and flight data recorders (FDR) into a single unit and the first to achieve certification for a solid state model. Today Curtiss-Wright manufactures a variety of CPRs that meet all current and anticipated regulations.

Devices for Defense Industry Curtiss-Wright
Data Concentrators

Curtiss-Wright’s data concentrator units (DCU) are ideal for solving the problem of combining incompatible output signals during new or retrofit aircraft systems integration. Risk is reduced with a highly flexible design and by using our wealth of experience developing, verifying and certifying RTCA/DO-178B software and DO-254 hardware for customized flight critical and non-critical systems.

Curtiss-Wright designs and manufactures DCUs that can consolidate control of multiple subsystems into a single box, lowering system weight and complexity. Products such as the DCU 4800 can be made to form the data hub for most of the avionics equipment on an aircraft while Curtiss-Wright’s Remote Electronics Units (REU) are perfect for use as individual controllers for single systems. These controllers can be developed quickly and in situations where some requirements may change thanks to our AviBlocks modular prototyping model.
